The ultimate summer bonnet! We teamed with friends of the brand Cat O’Brien and Amber Bardell to create a one-off collection of Cat’s bonnets. Each one has been made  using our new SS’25 ‘Into The Garden’ fabrics and hand painted by artist Amber Bardell.

Known for her historically inspired garments Cat's bonnet hats were originally inspired by a 1940's magazine pattern for a gardening hat, and have been reimagined by Cat with modern twists, and, of course, her signature eyelets as the back fastening.

Amber Bardell is a Bristol based multidisciplinary artist whose practice expands across painting, mixed media and ceramics, with their goal to celebrate the wisdom and beauty of the natural world. 

These hats have been made by Cat O’Brien in her Brighton based studio from our beautiful heavyweight 10oz Peashoot Denim, made from 100% organic cotton, a classic workwear fabric that will become softer and mould to the wearer’s characteristics with age and use. They have been painted by Amber using an acrylic mixed with a fabric medium to bring Amber's love of flora and fauna to each brim. This hat has been painted with a beige and blue floral motif across the brim. Each hat is ready-to-ship and one-off. They have been paired with a ruby red double-sided velvet ribbon, for a classic contrast, to tie under the chin and at the back of the hat. These hats are charged with so much gorgeous, creative energy!

Each hat can be made entirely flat (and therefore is brilliant for fitting into a bag) by untying the back. All one size, for a 21” head circumference.

Care Instructions:

Whilst the designs have been set on the fabric by an iron and should not wash off, it is advised to spot wash often and hand wash in warm water and mild detergent when necessary. Do not tumble dry and lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight. Iron on a medium setting. Do not Iron directly onto the painted design, iron either on the reverse side or with a tea towel in between the painted design and the iron plate.
